3 safety tips for road trips

On Behalf of | Jul 16, 2021 | Personal Injury |

With summer comes road trips, and having an accident during some family fun time is the furthest thing from your mind. Medical bills, a new car and dealing with the insurance company become a headache you do not want to deal with.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the number of motor vehicle accidents went down from 2019. However, passenger cars had more crashes than all other vehicles combined. In addition, there were more fatalities recorded in 2020 than in 2019, even though there were fewer accidents. Follow these tips to keep you from being a statistic in 2021.

1. Give your car a tuneup

Take your car in for a complete tuneup to ensure it works properly. Check off these items.

  • Motor Oil
  • Tires
  • Windshield wipers
  • Brakes

 2. Watch for 2-footed and 4-footed pedestrians

Warm months mean more foot traffic. People and animals come out to experience the beautiful weather. When driving through a city or taking the scenic route through the mountains, be aware of those who may take a detour across the road.

3. Look out for construction zones

Construction is a never-ending hassle for drivers, and the zones can happen in the middle of nowhere. Keep your speed to the posted levels and watch out for workers. Pay close attention to the big rigs coming and going. Being in a smaller vehicle, the driver may not see you.

The goal of the road trip is to have fun with your family. Focus on your driving to keep your family safe while having a good time. Contact YOUR Personal Injury Specialist for a free, no obligation consultation to learn how we can help you. Call 610-892-9300 or reach us online.
