All Four SKRR Partners Named 2027 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for Second Consecutive Year
For the second consecutive year, every partner at Schmidt, Kirifides, Rassias & Rio (SKRR) has been selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list.
Mark R. Schmidt, Vasil L. Kirifides, Anna V. Rio, and George G. Rassias were all named to the 2027 list, which recognizes no more than 5% of attorneys in Pennsylvania each year.
Founding and managing partner Mark R. Schmidt was also named to both the 2027 Pennsylvania Top 100 and 2027 Philadelphia Top 100 Super Lawyers lists, for the second year in a row. Neither list is limited to workers' compensation. Both recognize the highest-scoring attorneys across every area of law. Read more about Mark's Top 100 selections.
SKRR has represented injured workers in Pennsylvania workers' compensation cases from its office in Delaware County, since 1994. The firm has been represented on the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list every year since 2008.

Mark and I started this firm over 30 years ago with one goal: give injured workers the kind of lawyer they'd want for their own family. Since then we've stood beside more than 5,000 injured workers who were hurt, out of work, and worried about how they'd pay their bills.
They deserve a lawyer who answers the phone, knows their name, and fights for them like it's personal, because to us it is. That's how Mark, Anna, George, and I have always practiced, so seeing all four of us recognized by our peers again is something truly special for our whole firm."
Why Super Lawyers Recognition Matters When You're Choosing a Workers' Comp Lawyer

If you were hurt at work, dozens of law firms will compete for your case on billboards, TV, and search results. Advertising tells you what a law firm says about itself. Super Lawyers offers a different perspective, combining recognition from fellow attorneys with independent research into a lawyer's professional achievements.
Awards and professional recognition matter, but what should matter most to an injured worker is the experience and attention they receive from their attorney. At SKRR, that begins with two commitments.
Super Lawyers selects attorneys through a patented, multiphase process:
- Peer nominations. Pennsylvania attorneys nominate lawyers they have personally seen in action. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves, and nominations from outside a lawyer's own firm carry more weight.
- Independent research. Super Lawyers' research team evaluates candidates on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, including experience, case results, certifications, legal leadership, and contributions to the profession.
- Peer evaluation. The top-scoring candidates in each practice area serve on a "blue ribbon" panel that reviews other candidates in their field.
- Final selection. No more than 5% of Pennsylvania attorneys are named to the list.
Selection cannot be bought. Super Lawyers keeps its research separate from its advertising, and no lawyer can pay to be selected. Recognition also does not carry over. Every attorney goes through the process again each year, which is why consecutive selections mean something.

Meet SKRR's 2027 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers
Mark R. Schmidt Founding and Managing Partner, Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist
Twenty consecutive years of Super Lawyers recognition, including 2027 Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Top 100 honors.
Mark R. Schmidt has devoted more than three decades to Pennsylvania workers' compensation law. His 2027 selection marks 20 consecutive years on the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list (2008–2027), and his second straight year on both the Pennsylvania Top 100 and Philadelphia Top 100 lists.
In March 2025, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled in Schmidt's own work-injury case, holding that items prescribed by a health care provider as part of treatment for a work injury, in his case CBD oil, can be reimbursable "medicines and supplies" under the Workers' Compensation Act. He has served as Co-Chair of the Delaware County Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Committee.
Vasil L. Kirifides Founding Partner, Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist
Founding partner and Certified Specialist whose appellate victories have helped shape Pennsylvania workers' compensation law.
Vasil L. Kirifides has represented injured workers throughout Pennsylvania for more than three decades. He has been selected to Super Lawyers every year since 2021, making 2027 his seventh consecutive selection.
His precedent-setting wins before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania have helped shape how the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act is interpreted and applied. He has also been recognized by Main Line Today and the Delaware County Daily Times for his workers' compensation work.
Anna V. Rio Partner, Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist
Certified Specialist and former Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section.
Anna V. Rio has more than 30 years of experience representing Pennsylvania's injured workers. Her appellate work before the Commonwealth Court includes the precedent-setting McLaughlin decision, and she previously served as Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section.
2027 marks her second consecutive year on the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list.
George G. Rassias Partner, Trial and Appellate Litigation
Trial and appellate attorney with multiple seven-figure verdicts, pursuing third-party claims for injured workers alongside their workers' compensation cases.
George G. Rassias has earned repeated Super Lawyers recognition for his trial and appellate litigation. He has secured multiple seven-figure verdicts and handled significant appellate matters before Pennsylvania's courts.
He is a former Chairman of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice's Amicus Curiae Committee and a recipient of its George F. Douglas Amicus Curiae Award. His litigation experience strengthens the firm's most serious work-injury cases.
What This Means If You Were Hurt at Work
Awards are only useful if they translate into better representation. At SKRR, they do in two ways.
You work directly with a Certified Specialist. Every workers' compensation partner at SKRR (Mark R. Schmidt, Vasil L. Kirifides, and Anna V. Rio) is a Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist, a designation authorized by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and administered through the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Your case stays with the same partner from beginning to end. There is no outside call center, and you are never passed between lawyers who don't know your case.
You don't need a complicated case. SKRR's appellate record does not mean the firm only takes hard cases. Most clients call shortly after an injury, or once something starts to go wrong: a missing check, delayed treatment, an Independent Medical Examination (IME), pressure to return to work, or a settlement offer. Knowing how cases are fought at the highest level helps our attorneys spot problems early, long before a claim ever reaches a courtroom.
